Lions Margo Whitmore and Jimmy Hollows recently received a request from a very needy and deserving family to assist with a wheelchair. Both parents in the family are wheelchair bound and have a variety of other medical ailments as well, including diabetes. The club was delighted to be able to donate a wheelchair to the Perumal family. We’re very grateful to the Rotary Club of Umhlanga who provided the wheelchair to the club and enabled us to serve the community together with this very helpful donation.

On 28 March 2010, the club provided free diabetes screening at the Golden Hours market, testing blood pressure and blood sugar levels for anyone who wanted it. More than 70 people took up the opportunity. Several people were found to have very high blood sugar that they were unaware of, and advised to speak to their doctor.
