The Quilters-by-the-Sea quilting group donated a magnificent king-size quilt to the club to raffle off as a fundraiser. Quilters-by-the-Sea have met at the North Durban Lions clubhouse for several years and work on a beautiful quilt for the club to raffle every year. This year’s raffle was drawn on 24 July 2018 and was won by Mrs Maureen Abbs, who was delighted with her wonderful prize.
The North Durban Lions are very grateful to the Quilters-by-the-Sea for their continued generosity in providing a quilt every year – funds are raised that will allow the club to serve many people in need throughout the year.

The Pink Phoenix Foundation raises funds for cancer treatment and to increase cancer awareness. One of their annual fundraisers is a 5km walk or run on the Umhlanga beach front, where participants are encouraged to wear pink, particularly pink tutus. The club took orders for tutus from participants and sold more on the day before the event, donating all the funds raised to the Pink Phoenix Foundation. The tutus were so popular even Melvin the Lion’s tutu was sold before the walk began.
