Tutus for the Pink Phoenix Foundation “Tutus and Takkies” Beach Walk

The Pink Phoenix Foundation raises funds for cancer treatment and to increase cancer awareness. One of their annual fundraisers is a 5km walk or run on the Umhlanga beach front, where participants are encouraged to wear pink, particularly pink tutus. The club took orders for tutus from participants and sold more on the day before the event, donating all the funds raised to the Pink Phoenix Foundation. The tutus were so popular even Melvin the Lion’s tutu was sold before the walk began.

Heritage Day Braai for Residents of TAFTA On Ridge

For several years, the club has provided a lunchtime braai for the residents of the TAFTA On Ridge retirement home. Every year many residents tell the club members that its the best meal they have all year. This year was no different – on 16 June 2018 several club members braaied burgers, chicken or veg patties for the residents, served with chips and followed by ice cream. The meal was extremely well received and the club was glad to brighten the day of many mature members of its community.
